Dave Barry

Born in Cardiff. Moved to London late 60's and studied percussion at the Royal Academy of Music (Pete Jacobsen and Stan Sulzman were also studying there at the same time). Joined Mike Westbrook in 1979; worked with his various ensembles and big band and toured Europe and Australia. Was a member of the Tim Whitehead Quartet, with Pete Jacobsen and Arnie Somoygi, for twelve years; was also a member of Don Weller's Quartet and his big band for sixteen years and the John Critchenson-Art Themen Quartet for ten years.

For the last five years Dave has been teaching drum kit and percussion for the Borough of Croydon, and is now their Percussion Coordinator. He also teaches at the Royal Ballet School, Richmond Park and Shrewsbury House School in Surbiton.
